Welcome to Way of the Ninja role playing boards. We are a friendly Naruto Alternate Universe rping community. Before you get started or ask any questions, be sure to read everything in this forum. Seems like a lot but it will answer nearly all of your questions. Plot/Setting Here we have taken the world of Naruto (its land, villages, jutsu, and structure) and removed the characters to leave room for your imagination and individual characters. Yes, that means we don't take "cannon" characters. No Uchinas here. All characters are unique, the bloodlines are all new, and even the biiju won't be what you expect. Speaking of biiju, they haven't appeared yet. The villages are in a state of relative peace, no direct wars here but no real promise of working together for anything but exams. We are starting with only three villages (Konoha, Suna, Kiri) and you cannot see a village your character hasn't been accepted to.

Creating a Character We have striven to make building a character with us extremely easy. We do, however, understand if you have questions. Be sure to ask a mod if you have any questions. - Decide What village they will be in.
- You only have the choice of Konoha, Suna, and Kiri right now.
- Decide on a bloodline or no bloodline.
- You can find a list of bloodlines here.
- You may also apply for a new bloodline here.
- Fill out the character sheet found here and post it in the character creation forum. Make sure the title is the name of your character.
- Wait for it to be approved.
Your character will start out as a genin unless arranged through a mod. You are permitted as many characters as you want, however, they must be on separate accounts.

Stats You will notice under my username are a list of stats. Each one has a meaning and a function. They are all tied to the amount of posts you make. - Level
- Every ten posts you make you will receive a level. Every time you level your stats will go up.
- HP
- HP goes up 1 for every level. Health is a very important statistic, as you would imagine. It gives how many times your character can be hit with an attack before it has to retreat or declare death. A character may only die if the author allows it.
- Skill
- Each jutsu has a usage number. The Skill number on your profile is the total your jutsu is allowed to add up to. For example: Jutsu A costs 5 and Jutsu B costs 10, in order to have both of these you must have a total skill number of 15. This skill goes up 4 points each level.
- Attack
- This number is used in combat situations. It is the number of sides your dice has when you roll. Read below for more information on how to use this stat. This stat increases 6 every level.
- Defense
- This number is used in combat situations. It is the number of sides on your defense dice has when you roll. Read below for more information. This stat increases 7 every level.
- Animal
- This stat allows you to summon different levels of creatures. For examples, look here
. It also affects the level of abilities your animal companion has. You may not have a summon contract and an animal companion. It is one or the other.
- Bloodline
- This stat is the total points you are allowed to accumulate with bloodline specific jutsu. Each bloodline specific jutsu costs a number of points.
- Money
- Money is used to buy equipment. The total cost of your equipment may not go over the total money you have.

Combat System There are many combat systems out there for role play, all with their varying degrees of difficulty and multiple stats. This site strives to make things easier so one can enjoy the role play without doing tons of math. The stats that are important here for combat are HP, Attack, and [/u]Defense[/u]. All other stats are used in how many of something you can have. These stats dictate if you can hit and defend. It is best seen in example than typed out in a paragraph, so here is one. We'll put up Naruto vs Gaara for our example. Naruto has: 3 HP 5 Attack 6 Defense Gaara has: 2 HP 5 Attack 6 Defense Each in their first post they state these stats before fighting. They will be used until the end of the fight even if they level and change. The next post we'll have Naruto post a defense and sizing up of his opponent. The first role play post will never be an attack. In Naruto's post he will use the dice rolling system to post his defense for the next attack. In the following post Gaara's attack roll must be larger than Naruto's defense roll in order for it to count as a hit. Each hit will lower a person's HP by 1. So now lets see Gaara's attack. Notice Gaara posted a defense roll as well as an attack roll. This defense roll will count against Naruto's next attack. Gaara's attack was 3 and Naruto's defense was 3. This means the hit didn't go through. So in Naruto's next post he can write that he blocked the attack and make an attack of his own. Here, Naruto's attack is greater than Gaara's defense. That constitutes a hit. Gaara's HP is now 1. That means after one more hit he has to retreat or post that he has died. If you have any questions on how this works, please ask any mod and they will be happy to spar with you to show you how things work. The best way to learn this system is to role play in it.[rand=454743081121908533640798391494928631151318951150543324908619960567]

Exams Chuunin and Jounin exams are what every shinobi works towards. Rather than hold them once a year, which would make things terribly boring for all of you, we will be holding them whenever we believe we have enough candidates for it. They will be hosted over a two week period and contain only two portions: written exam and tournament. Each exam will be different to keeps things new and fresh for all of you. Keep an eye out for announcements of when the next exam will be.
